Standing a few days away from the in-ring scrap, Caleb Plant has vowed to offer a tough fight to the P4P king Canelo Alvarez for all four super-middleweight titles. Despite being the underdog, Plant has always been optimistic about his chances in the fight. Although Mexican star Alvarez doesn’t see ‘Sweethands’ as a threat, Plant has spoken his mind.
21-0 as a professional, IBF champion Caleb Plant has been flawless in all of his fights. Although he has faced no one like Canelo Alvarez before, the unbeaten champion can still back himself. It will be extremely demanding to vanquish a modern era legend, but Plant sees himself pulling it off.
In a chat with the PBC podcast, Caleb Plant said, “I can assure you, I’m nobody to play with, and if he feels like he’s got an easy fight on his hands he’s got another thing coming. There’s going to be a new sheriff in town.”
The high-voltage matchup has already seen several dramatic moments in the build-up. The champions traded blows in the face-off, which produced bloodshed from both sides. And it assures an interesting fight when both men will collide in the ring to crown the maiden undisputed 168 lbs champion.
Canelo Alvarez is fresh from two wins this year. After grabbing the WBC and WBA title from Callum Smith in December 2020, he defended the belts against Avni Yildirim in February. He followed it with a win against Billy Joe Saunders for the WBO strap in May. This sheer activeness rightly calls him to be in a superior position.
Can Caleb Plant shock the world against Canelo Alvarez?
On paper, the unbeaten orthodox may not look favorable to win. But given boxing’s unpredictability, ‘Sweethands’ will certainly have a fair chance to register a shocking upset. However, he will have to offer something really different in the ring. Having faced the elites like Floyd Mayweather, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, and others, Alvarez will not be intimidated by Caleb Plant.

‘Sweethands’ will have to earn Alvarez’s respect. He cannot let the Mexican take control of the fight. If Plant gets to dominate the initial stage, he can look for a finish. But this fight can be very tricky and it’s hard to predict anything beforehand.
