I’m terrified my only son’s drug addiction will kill him

He’s 29 and has lost everything – his job, his long-term partner and his son – but nobody will help him.

No issue is too small, too large or too embarrassing. Read our personal replies here.
He takes whatever he can get his hands on, from painkillers to street drugs. They’ve wrecked his health and made him paranoid.
Sometimes he has hallucinations. The other day he got hysterical in the middle of a shopping centre and the police were called.
They did nothing. I had to take him to hospital myself.
I’m 58 and I’m so worried I’ve started having panic attacks. Nobody seems to care or want to offer professional mental health support.
How do I save him from himself?

Get him to see his GP and please contact Mind, the mental health charity (mind.org.uk, 0300 123 3393).
Also talk to your own GP, as this is taking its toll on you too.
