Jamie Lee Curtis has revealed some of the things she’s still trying to adjust to after her daughter Ruby came out as transgender.

The doting mom opened up about the fact she still ‘slips up’ and calls her daughter by her dead name, but explained in a new joint interview in People that she is a ‘grateful student’.

The interview came after the Halloween Kills star revealed this summer that her daughter, who was previously known as Thomas, had told her and her husband, Christopher Guest, that she is a trans woman.

The pair revealed that Ruby broke the news by text and the video editor, 25, recalled the loving response she received from her family.

‘It was intimidating – but I wasn’t worried. They had been so accepting of me my entire life,’ she explained.

Freaky Friday star Jamie, 62, admitted that she still makes mistakes with Ruby’s pronouns occasionally, with Ruby adding she was never ‘mad’ when that happened because she knows her parents are doing the best they can.

She explained: ‘It’s speaking a new language. It’s learning new terminology and words. I am new at it. I am not someone who is pretending to know much about it.

‘And I’m going to blow it, I’m going to make mistakes. I would like to try to avoid making big mistakes.’

Jamie continued: ‘You slow your speech down a little. You become a little more mindful about what you’re saying. How you’re saying it. You still mess up, I’ve messed up today twice. We’re human.’

In July, the Knives Out actress told AARP Magazine revealed that she and her husband Christopher ‘have watched in wonder and pride as our son became our daughter Ruby.’

The Prom Night star also told the publication that Ruby and her fiancé are getting married next year, and the doting mom set to officiate the wedding.

Jamie and Christopher’s 34-year-old daughter, Annie, is already married and works as a dance instructor.

The Halloween actress explained that watching Ruby live her truth helped her to let go of the ‘old idea’ that life is fixed and instead she has now learned that her life is a ‘constant metamorphosis.’
