Phil Mickelson’s Iconic Hat Gets a New and Meaningful Upgrade Courtesy of a Little Kid

Since 2008, Phil Mickelson has been partnered with KPMG. His relationship with the brand has grown over the years, now one of his biggest sponsors on the course. That being said, KPMG also promotes charitable work, trying to make a difference in their own way.

This time, KPMG has introduced a different version of Mickelson’s iconic blue cap. The hat will work to improve lives for children, an initiative by the accounting organization. Each and every hat will count, trying to bring around the necessary change.

KPMG come up with a limited edition of Phil Mickelson hats

In this recent collaborating hat, KPMG Blue for Books Program has teamed up with the 51-year-old PGA Tour icon. To ensure fans and buyers connect, Mickelson himself interviewed the girl who won the recent KPMG Blue for Books Program – her drawing is featured in the hat.

The new hat features artwork from Mae Coogan, who shares a love of golf and reading with @PhilMickelson.

The interview itself is heartwarming, Mickelson and the 11-year-old winner –Mae Coogan – discussing everything from the drawing to elephants. “How did you come up with this idea?” Mickelson asked her. As per the little girl, her mother helped her come up with the idea while they saw Mickelson’s videos.

Mae even spoke about playing golf with her grandfather and reading books about animals. A highlight was them speaking about golf, sneaking in, and playing golf after the course or club closes down. Mickelson revealed he and his father used to sneak in late as well, going home with a couple of flashlights because of how dark it was.

Fans seemed to love the innocent interaction, appreciating Mickelson for speaking to Mae.

More about the hat and the KPMG’s purpose

According to the announcement, the KPMG Blue for Books program will receive proceeds from every hat that is sold. The program is a part of the KPMG Family for Literacy program. Mickelson, along with Stacy Lewis, Mariah Stackhow, and Maverick McNealy are avid supporters of the same. As a hat is sold, books will be donated to children in need. As of now, Blue for Books has donated over 250,000 books since it was founded back in 2012.

The hat will be selling for $69 on ‘melin‘.
Having said that, Mickelson last played PGA TOUR Champions’, Constellation Furyk and Friends, securing his third win in four events.
