Richard Madeley was in stitches over the new BBC logo on today’s Good Morning Britain.
The Beeb unveiled its new makeover after viewers complained it looked ‘old fashioned’ and ‘out of date’, but the overhaul has been mercilessly mocked for its undramatic change.
The ITV show took a closer look at the emblem and placed it alongside the old creation, but presenter Richard and co-host Susanna Reid could barely spot the difference.
‘I mean, I can barely look at it,’ Richard said.
‘Oh, it’s like something from W1A, isn’t it?’ Susanna chuckled.
‘The future is so bright I have to wear shades!’ Richard continued, before adding: ‘Well, what is the difference?

Susanna explained that the new artwork has smaller font and more white space.
‘Actually, it looks slightly better but I hope all expense was spared,’ remarked Daily Mirror editor Kevin Maguire.
Richard continued: ‘Can you imagine a designer going to the BBC exec and saying, “I think you’ll like this” and them going, “oh my God, that was worth half a million”.
‘Didn’t anyone look at someone else in the room and say “they’re going to laugh at us?”’

He then made one final dig: ‘Well, the BBC are like Millwall supporters, everybody hates them but they don’t care.’
Besides the BBC logo having a makeover, the News and Weather also have been given fresh symbols made up of three blocks placed at different angles for each service.
BBC Sounds, iPlayer, BBC Sport and BBC Bitesize have similar icons in various colours and services like the iPlayer has become easier to use and navigate.
‘As we update our digital services, it makes sense to modernise how we present them too,’ said the BBC’s chief customer officer Kerris Bright.

‘Updated, recognisable colours, logos and graphics will identify each service and help improve navigation between them.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
