‘The Best Ever’: Shaquille O’Neal Claims LeBron James Would Become the GOAT Over Michael Jordan If He Breaks This Record

Many regard LeBron James as the greatest player of all time. He has broken numerous records in the NBA and has been on the top of the game for more than a decade. He leads most stats when it comes to the NBA playoffs. However, he is yet to reach the top of some all-time stats.

LeBron James is currently chasing two all-time records that are held by former Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. LeBron is third in the all-time scoring list and all-time field goals made list. On both lists, he is behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone.

However, he could surpass both of them in the next two seasons if he stays healthy and on top of his form. Former Lakers star Shaquille O’Neal recently said that LeBron could become the best ever over Michael Jordan if he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Shaquille O’Neal says LeBron James could become the best ever

Shaq said that James could become the greatest player of the game if he manages to overtake Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the all-time scoring list.

“He’s got four rings, and he becomes the highest scorer in the NBA history. He’s the best ever. Ain’t nothing you can say,” Shaq said.

“I mean, that’s what he is really trying to do. Ring No. 5 would be cool, but if he gets that leading scorer, the highest scorer ever in the league … I’d take that. He’d be No. 1. He’d be the leading scorer. Me, I want to be the leading scorer in the league because now it ain’t no conversation about who is the best ever in the league. Who is going to break it? Nobody.”

Shaquille O’Neal himself is eighth on the all-time scoring list with 28,596 points. Meanwhile, Michael Jordan is fifth on this list with 32,292 points from 1072 games played. Kareem leads the list with 38,387 points and is followed by Karl Malone (36,928) and LeBron James (35,401). LeBron needs more than 1527 points this season to overtake Karl Malone in the second spot.

However, the Lakers have been disappointing so far as they haven’t won a single game this month. But LeBron was the Lakers’ bright spot during their opening game loss against the Warriors as he scored 34 points. However, there’s a long season ahead and the LeBron will expect the Lakers to find their mojo back if they want to win their 18th championship.
