Marko Reveals How Ex-F1 Boss Ecclestone Came to Their Rescue After Adrian Newey’s Horrific Accident in Croatia

Dr. Helmut Marko and Team Principal Christian Horner have played an important role in Red Bull’s title fight this season. However, there is another personality that gives the Raging Bulls a fighting chance this season, and that is Adrian Newey.

But, up until the Turkish Grand Prix, the British engineer was not seen in his team’s garage. That’s because Newey suffered a bike accident while he was in Croatia.

However, the Red Bull engineer was not alone and was in the company of a British businessman, Bernie Ecclestone, who helped Newey get the best treatment possible after his accident.

One key personality that was missing from the track was Newey. But, at the Turkish GP in Istanbul, he was present. The British engineer who had suffered a horrible bike accident was away from the world of F1 as he had to recover. Marko had interestingly revealed that it was Ecclestone who helped Newey get the finest treatment possible while they were in Croatia.

Speaking to F1.Insider.com as quoted by Motorsport.com, Marko said, “It was a really tough time for us with Adrian’s absence. Adrian had several broken bones and a head injury in the accident. Fortunately, Bernie Ecclestone was in Croatia at the same spot.”

“Bernie has very close ties to the Croatian authorities. He made sure that Adrian received the best medical treatment promptly and also arranged the operations for his return to the UK,” the Austrian boss concluded. (Translated from Turkish via Google)

Can Newey lead the Bulls to a victory in Austin?

Last race weekend saw Max Verstappen just miss out on a win as he was beaten to the chequered flag by Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas. However, they are not satisfied with the result and would aim to grab a win this upcoming weekend at the US Grand Prix.

Additionally, with Newey back in the Red Bull garage, the Milton-Keynes-based outfit have been given a boost in their confidence to claim victory and may just turn the odds of the title race in their favor.
