‘Not an Instant Oatmeal’: LeBron James Makes an Interesting Comment About Russell Westbrook’s Lowlights

A team is as good as its weakest link. However, the Los Angeles Lakers need not worry because they do not have any weak links. But in their opening show against the Warriors, Russell Westbrook certainly looked weak against the power duo of LeBron James & Anthony Davis. 

While the star duo combined to score 67 points against the GSW, Russ could not even score in double figures. In fact, it took him a good 20 minutes to score his first layup as he looked unlike his original self. But whatever be the outcome of that night, LeBron had his kind words ready to cover for the star.

LeBron James agrees that Russell Westbrook will take his time

In the postgame interview after incurring the 114-121 loss against the Dubs Nation, LeBron James, as a true leader, got Russ’ back. He detailed how playing in front of your family members and in your hometown after so many years of wait is not easy. It can create jitters and lead to a performance lag.

Bron detailed, “…We need to fit out as well… When Russ is aggressive, looking for his shot, looking for his teammates, and just reading reacting, that’s when this game flows and it’s gonna be better for our team.” 

He then asked everyone to trust the process and stay patient until Mr. Triple Double gets into rhythm. As the L-Train added, “That’ll take time as well, this doesn’t happen overnight. It’s not an instant oatmeal, you have to work the process, you have to get better with it. You have to see things that not only benefit you… it ultimately benefits the team. But he’s a veteran in this league, so I’m not worried.”

In the season opener, the Lakers saw the Warriors’ second team taking them over in the second half. So it will really take a Russ to get the Lakers out of tough situations against good teams.

LBJ and his obsession with the oatmeal analogy

Funnily, this was not the first time that LeBron James threw an oatmeal analogy. The Blaze Pizza investor is almost obsessed with the oatmeal analogy that he keeps using every time someone raises an early finger into his novel goals.
