PS5 UK restock at GAME today will have ‘strong’ anti-scalper measures

GAME has got more stock of the PS5 in this week but it’s insisting that they will only sell one per customer and perform automatic checks.

The next big restock of PlayStation 5 consoles has already started at GAME and while it’s unlikely to last more than the usual 30 minutes or so the company is adamant that scalpers won’t be given an easy ride.

They’re insisting that customers will only be able to buy one console each and they have automated systems in place to root out scalpers.

They advise that while at first multiple orders might generate an order confirmation email (which scalpers love to post online as a form of bragging) these will be cancelled later.

GAME’s official notice of the restock talks about the PlayStation 5 being in ‘high demand’ which ‘far outweighs currently supply’.

However, they claim to have ‘strong measures’ in place to ensure the one per customer rule is maintained, with payments not being taken until they’re certain you’re not a scalper.

Although there’s no official confirmation of when the new consoles will be sent out PS5 Stock UK suggests that priority orders will be delivered by Monday, October 25 and ordinary deliveries by Friday, October 29.

As is by now well known the stock situation for the PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X, is not expected to improve until later next year, and possibly not even until 2023 – given the global chip shortage.

GAME has showed a lot more initiative than most other retailers in trying to stop scalpers so it’s surprising that they missed the mark with the recent Xbox Series X mini fridges, which sold out in 10 minutes and are now going for more than £200 above their retail price on eBay.
