Roman Reigns and Vince McMahon Butted Heads Right Before WrestleMania 37

WrestleMania 37 ended with WWE Superstar Roman Reigns retaining his Universal Title in dominant fashion. The ‘Tribal Chief’ continued his reign after smashing, stacking, and pinning both, Edge and Daniel Bryan, in a triple threat match.

Reigns performance as “Head of the Table” has been amazing, and the fans love it. At SummerSlam 2020, Roman Reigns turned heel and has since ruled as the ‘Tribal Chief’ on Friday Night SmackDown.

To solidify him as a major heel, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon thought of giving Roman a new theme song that would fit his character better. However, Mr. McMahon wanted the theme to debut at WrestleMania, while Reigns didn’t.

Roman Reigns walked out to his old Theme “The Truth Reigns” at WrestleMania 37 disagreeing with Vince McMahon. WWE had a good opportunity to introduce Reigns’ new theme on the grandest stage of them all but they fell short.

Roman Reigns disapproved getting a new theme at WrestleMania 37

During an interview with Bleacher Report, he spoke about the last-minute theme change. He said, “It wasn’t ready. Me and the big man weren’t agreeing on a couple of things, so I was like, ‘ I’m not going out to it now.’ I have to feel it because nobody outside of my cousins and Paul is walking out to that. To me, these are the types of things I have to 100 percent be connected to, and that’s why our audience can trust me, and the presentation, and the character, and everything I’m doing.”

Reigns debuted his new theme, “Head of the Table,” on an episode of SmackDown after Wrestlemania. For any wrestler, it takes time to adapt to a new role. When the wrestler is familiar with the character, it becomes natural and relaxed. In the case of Roman Reigns, this is the case.

Roman Reigns lives his character and that is what makes him one of the best out there today. His work ethic and professionalism have always been praised by fellow wrestlers. But this incident of stepping up to the Chairman and disagreeing with him does deserve some praise. After all, not everyone can overpower Vince McMahon’s decisions!
