Steve Allen: How old is the LBC presenter and what did he say about Tilly Ramsay?

Steve Allen has come under fire for comments he made about Strictly Come Dancing star Tilly Ramsay’s weight live on his LBC show.
Ramsay, 19, called out the radio presenter after he referred to her as a ‘chubby little thing’ on his morning show, saying his comments were a ‘step too far’.
The chef and presenter said: ‘Steve please feel free voice your opinions, however I draw the line at commenting on my appearance. It’s such a shame that someone is trying to make such a positive experience negative.
‘This isn’t the first and definitely won’t be the last comment made about my appearance and I accept that and I’m learning to accept myself. But please remember that works can hurt and at teh end of the day I am only 19 and I’m so grateful for all the amazing opportunities I have been able to take part in and I understand that being in the public eye obviously comes with its own repercussions and I’ve been aware of this from a young age.
‘However I won’t tolerate people that think it’s okay to publicly comment and scrutinise anyones weight and appearance.’
Who is Steve Allen?
Allen is the 67-year-old host of LBC’s early morning breakfast show from 4am to 7am, Monday to Friday.
The DJ joined LBC back in 1979, hosting the Night Extra Programme, The Night Is Young, London Talkback Radio and Saturday Night Out before joining the early breakfast show in 2000.
He also previously pre-recorded Steve Allen In Conversation.
Allen is known for sharing personal anecdotes and criticisms of various celebrities on his shows, and while he reads out texts and tweets, he does not take listeners’ calls during the breakfast show.
Outside of radio, Allen has done live tours and published a book, So You Want To Be A Celebrity?, in 2015.

What did he say about Tilly Ramsay?
On his show on October 20, Allen criticised Ramsay’s dancing on Strictly, before turning his attention to the teenager’s weight.
Reading out a text from a listener, he said: ‘“Steve, Tilly Ramsay is on MasterChef Australia.” Is she? Well, she can’t blooming well dance. I’m bored with her already. She’s a chubby little thing, isn’t she, have you noticed? Probably her dad’s cooking, I should imagine.’

The comments have been slammed by Ramsay’s Strictly colleagues, as well as stars including Alison Hammond and Dr Alex George.
Allen has yet to speak out on the backlash.
