All Elite Wrestling announcer Jim ‘JR’ Ross has revealed he’s been dealing with a possible ‘skin cancer issue’ for the past year.
The 69-year-old veteran broadcaster – who earned his reputation as one of the best of all time in WWE before signing with rival company AEW in April 2019 – shared a graphic photo on Twitter and gave fans an update on his health.
He wrote: ‘Been dealing with this for over a year. Potential skin cancer issue. Cat Scan today. Hopeful for good results. Staying positive.’
Wrestlers, fans and the whole industry are rallying behind Jim, with former WWE tag team The Bollywood Boyz writing: ‘Best wishes, Jim.’
One fan replied: ‘Oh my gosh that looks painful and scary. I hope you get good results today.
‘This must have been very uncomfortable and worrying as you’ve been dealing with it for the last year. All the love and positive thoughts to you today! You’ve got this.’
And another tweeted: ‘You’re one hell of a fighter, Jim. We’re all remaining positive for you.’
Towards the end of 2018, JR had underwent surgery for skin cancer as he had ‘a little’ removed from his shoulder.
He said at the time: ‘I’m getting a little cancer surgery on Thursday. I’m having some more skin cancer removed from my shoulder.
‘There’s just a little of it left, but you want to get all of it. I’m getting that cut out on Thursday.’
Speaking on his own Grillin’ JR podcast at the time, he also reflected on Roman Reigns giving up his Universal Championship just days earlier as he battled leukaemia.

‘Sometimes in our lives in wrestling, when we think we’ve seen everything, something comes along once or twice in a career, maybe once in a lifetime, that creates an event or a moment that can’t be replicated with auditions and scrips and rehearsals and walkthroughs,’ he said.
‘The fact that WWE allowed Roman to come to the ring and make this announcement in his own words, and I assure you, they were in his own words, I thought was very admirable.’
Reigns returned in February 2019 and revealed his leukaemia was in remission, and he’s gone onto become the biggest star in WWE.
