Alison Hammond has revealed the error she made when she had Tinder, sparking laughter in This Morning’s ITV studio as she opened up on the mayhem her mistake caused.

Online dating is no easy feat, with some people managing to find love on dating apps and others struggling to forge a connection after a virtual introduction.

Alison is one of the many people who has given them a go – however, she realised that when she downloaded Tinder, she made a huge blunder on her search for romance.

On Friday’s edition of This Morning, Alison and her co-host Dermot O’Leary were joined by Gyles Brandreth and Camilla Tominey to discuss the latest headlines, including research conducted into how successful men are on dating apps when they say that they’re seeking a long-term relationship and also have dog pictures on their profiles.

As their segment was about to come to an end, Alison chimed in to share her personal experience of using Tinder, which didn’t go to plan.

‘Can I just say when I went on the dating app Tinder – I shouldn’t really promote, there’s lots of different dating apps – but basically, I was swiping the wrong way,’ she said, as Dermot covered his face in response.

Alison continued: ‘So I was swiping the wrong way. So I had all these people, going “I don’t like them!” and they were all the people that I was saying yeah.’

Dermot asked his co-host if she went on a date with any of the people she accidentally swiped right for, with Alison revealing that she chose not to.

‘I just came off the app, I was like, I can’t do it!’ she added.

We’ve all been there Alison!

In January 2014, Alison tweeted about her experience on Twitter, revealing that people on the app didn’t believe that it was really her on the app.

‘Ok was just wondering if anyone has tried that dating app tinder ????’ she wrote at the time seven years ago.

‘I logged on and it’s hilarious, however no one believes it’s me.’

When another Twitter user responded to her to explain that Tinder is often perceived as being for ‘friends with benefits’, Alison responded: ‘Not into that at all.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
