Ben Simmons Finally Takes First Step To Settle Beef With Joel Embiid and 76ers

The Ben Simmons trade saga has definitely one of the biggest talking points of the season right now. After Simmons skipped the training camp and initial part of the pre-season, it looked like the two parties were headed to a trade.

But the Australian’s next move certainly baffled many as he unexpectedly showed up in Philadelphia. While seeing Simmons in the training sessions with the team was encouraging, the 3-time All-Star had yet another fallout.

After denying to participate in the defensive drills, the 24-year-old was thrown out of the practice and this event certainly seemed like the last straw in the Simmons saga as a trade looked imminent.

While Simmons’ antics in the training camp looked like Philly would finally give in for a trade, executive Daryl Morey is certainly not ready to cave in. In a recent interview, Morey even claimed that the organisation was ready to continue the saga for years to come.

Given how staunch the 76ers’ stance seems, it is finally looking like Simmons might end up staying with the team. In a recent tweet NBA insider, Shams Charania claimed Simmons finally spoke to Doc Rivers and Joel Embiid.

Sources: Ben Simmons spoke to Doc Rivers, Joel Embiid and entire 76ers team today and accepted everyone needs to take responsibility, including himself — but Simmons informed them all that he’s not mentally ready to play yet and needs time.

According to Charania, the Australian informed that he is not ready to play yet mentally and needs time to return to the team. This is certainly an encouraging news for Philly fans. While Simmons might have bombed in the playoffs, there is no doubting the guard’s talents.

Especially the leaps he has taken defensively have been impressive. With a roster filled with multiple shooters, finding a team with the right fit might be a challenge for the Australian. If Doc Rivers can use his experience and build a cohesive system around Embiid and Simmons, the 76ers can surely succeed as a team.

The 76ers have a great all-round team. They were one of the few teams who were top 10 in defensive and offensive rating. Last season, the 76ers massively underperformed in the post-season. But if the likes of Ben Simmons steps up, Philly might pull some big surprises. Do you think Simmons can succeed with the 76ers?
