“I Will Do My Best to Make His Opponent Last Name Magomedov”- Marvin Vettori’s Manager Berates Paulo Costa’s Weight Cut Antics
Ali Abdelaziz is known for managing great fighters like Khabib Nurmagomedev, Justin Gaethje, Henry Cejudo, Kamaru Usman, and Marvin Vettori. He is the founder of Dominance MMA Management and manages many fighters from different countries.
He got entangled in controversy during Khabib versus McGregor at UFC 229. During his trash talk, McGregor said many things about Khabib’s manager. This raised questions about his background.
Interestingly, the Egyptian-born manager himself was an MMA fighter in the past. Before transitioning to a manager, he had a fight record of 1 win and 3 losses. His brief stint as a fighter could be the reason for his success as a manager. He knows the game inside out.
Marvin Vettori’s manager on Paulo Costa missing weight cut
Paulo Costa versus Marvin Vettori bout has been riddled with issues. Because of Costa being unable to cut weight, the weight class has been changed twice already. Due to ongoing issues with the Costa-Vettori fight, Abdelaziz wrote a few tweets discussing the issue. As Costa was making a joke about the weight cut, Abdelaziz tweeted condemning it.
He wrote, “First costa asked 195 lbs @MarvinVettori said yes. After that he asked light heavyweight Marvin said yes. Marvin is the real fighter. But i was not cool that costa making a joke about weight. Sat night Marvin goes to jail hurting this man. This is not a game.”
He further tweeted, “I wasn’t going to say nothing, but he [Paulo Costa] is making fun of weight cut. He is doing everything to make UFC to cut him and cancel the fight. But this is not gonna happen.”
The Costa vs Vettori fight is on and will happen at the light heavyweight division, instead of the middleweight. Abdelaziz further tweeted and said that he will try to make Costa fight against Ruslan Magomedov from the heavyweight division. He wrote, “I will do my best to make his [Paulo Costa] opponent last name Magomedov.”

Perhaps he was trying to explain how difficult it is to fight someone with heavier weight and also how disrespectful it is to keep jeopardizing the fight because of weight cuts.
