Gene Simmons has given Boris Johnson his seal of approval, dubbing him ‘cool as cool can be’ while debating whether masks should be made mandatory again.

The Kiss rockstar, 72, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Friday where he spoke to Adil Ray and Kate Garraway about his move to being a painter, with his artworks selling for between $10,000 (£7,250) and $250,000 (£!81,000).

Gene also weighed in on the coronavirus vaccine and mask debate while on the show, encouraging others to get their own jab so as not to put others at risk.

The rocker, who had to cancel shows at the start of September due to testing positive for Covid-19, revealed he had got through it with a mild form of the illness as he was double jabbed with the Pfizer vaccine.

Urging others to do the same, Gene passionately added: ‘I’m perfectly fine and that’s only because of one reason, and that is because I was vaccinated by Pfizer twice, I also had the flu shot.

‘At least the vaccines will allow you not to go into the hospitals and possibly die and have tubes stuck up in all kinds of places. So I was fine, I didn’t even know I was suffering from Covid so I would urge everybody, please over the politics, the Earth is not flat, there is a pandemic out there.

‘It’s interesting to note that when you and I sneeze, as a courtesy we cover our mouths, it’s not a life-threatening event but Covid is.

‘So get over yourself, we’re not concerned with whether you agree with it or not, we’re concerned about you making us sick. So get your goddamn Covid shot and prevent other people from getting your stuff.’

When Kate told him that the government would love him for encouraging others to also get their jab, Gene added: ‘By the way, as a foreigner, I’m a big fan of Boris.

‘I think he’s as cool as cool can be, speaking as a foreigner and I support the guy.’

When Kate pointed out that Boris wasn’t wearing a mask while close to other ministers in the House of Commons this week, Gene added: ‘He should. He should, the Pope should wear it, everyone should wear it out of respect to the rest of humanity.’

The government chose not to make mask wearing and working from home mandatory again this week, despite coronavirus cases rapidly rising in the UK.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
