Strictly Come Dancing: Adam Peaty’s personal life has been a ‘nightmare’ following ‘almost-kiss’ with Katya Jones, claims Sara Davies

Strictly Come Dancing star Sara Davies insisted Adam Peaty has been in ‘turmoil’ during the past week, after his ‘almost-kiss’ with dance partner Katya Jones.

Adam and Katya performed a passionate Argentine tango on Saturday night’s show, however fans found themselves doing a double take when it looked like the pair were going in for a kiss.

Although the Olympic swimmer has squashed all speculation and insists that it was just a dance and nothing more, Sara has admitted the unwanted attention has been getting the better of him.

Speaking to MailOnline, Sara said: ‘I feel so bad for him because his personal life has been a nightmare this past week and everyone is talking about it when all he’s tried to do is give his all into dancing with Katya, which I can appreciate because that’s what I’m trying to do as well.

‘I have become really close to Adam, he’s one of my best friends through this process and I think if he was to do a dance and know he’s held back and that’s what cost him his place in the competition he would be so annoyed with himself.

‘I can see him being in real mental turmoil over this.’

Sara hasn’t been the only Strictly star to speak out on the incident. Loose Women presenter Judi Love, who has pulled out of this weekend’s show after testing positive for coronavirus, defended Adam’s routine on social media.

In a recent episode of Loose Women, Judi said: ‘They’re amazing dancers, amazing performers, and that’s what I saw a performance, that was executed and held in that position for camera and for the audience.’

However Adam’s girlfriend, Eiri Munro, kept the situation light-hearted as she pretended to cry in a video shared on her TikTok account, with a caption that read: ‘Watching your boyfriend almost kiss another woman on live tv.’

She then tipped her head back and fake screamed as the words ‘Finding out 10 million people also watched it live’ popped up on the screen.

Adam and Katya will be returning to the dancefloor on Saturday night performing a Samba to George Michael’s Faith.

Metro.co.uk has contacted Adam Peaty’s representatives for comment.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 7.05pm on BBC One.
