The IIconics admit mental health issues ‘sprung up’ on them: IMPACT’s IInspiration urge people to communicate

New IMPACT Wrestling stars The IInspiration have encouraged people to speak out about their mental health as they addressed their own personal issues.

The duo of Jessie McKay and Cassie Lee – known as IIconics pair Billie Kay and Peyton Royce before their WWE release earlier this year – have been open about their struggles and hope their candidness can help people realise they’re not alone.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk during IMPACT’s Bound For Glory Press Pass, Jessie said: ‘ Cassie and I have had our fair shares of mental health. It kind of sprung up on us – it was something that we never expected to happen.

‘So we’ve had to, over the past few years, really figure out how to deal with that and how to manage it.

‘Gosh, I really hope that we can – no pun intended – inspire female and male people to really just speak about it. That’s the biggest thing, because it got better for me when I opened up to people about it.’

Jessie noted ‘this conversation needs to happen’, and that things can only improve the more people to each other.

Cassie agreed, and noted the importance of the discussion happening in the wrestling world where ‘everyone is dealing with it in some way’.

‘I absolutely agree, this conversation needs to be happening constantly. And especially in our industry, it’s so common,’ she admitted.

‘Like, maybe not everyone’s talking about it but everyone is dealing with it in some way. And especially for the men, who I feel like have to have this… tough persona where nothing affects them.

‘But it does, and statistics show us that men are more affected by mental health than women are.’

She added that she simply wants people to ‘live a happy and full life’, and echoed her tag team partner’s thoughts on everyone being open with each other.

‘I think we all just need to support each other and offer a safe space for someone to speak to, if that’s what they need,’ she said. ‘The more open we can be about this and know we’re all this together, it’s just gonna benefit everyone.

‘And I just want everyone to live a happy and full life.’
