Toto Wolff to Headline Team Boss F1 Press Conference With Zak Brown at United States GP

Formula One will return to the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas for the first time since 2019. The COTA did not hold the race in the 2020 season because of the Covid-19 outbreak in the United States. After holding the press conference of drivers on Thursday, Friday will see the team principal’s press conference.

F1 has released the schedule for the team principal and as reported by Motorsport-total, it will pair McLaren team boss Zak Brown and Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff in the first session. Haas team principal Guenther Steiner will follow them and is paired with Williams team boss Jost Capito in the afternoon session.

Toto Wolff has done a tremendous job operating the team: Christian Horner

As reported by Planetf1, the Red Bull team principal Christian Horner stated Wolff has not faced this level of pressure before. But he complimented his rival for doing a good job in his role as the team boss of Mercedes.

“He came into the sport with Mercedes in 2013 and the structure was already in place. Ross Brawn had built that team. Lewis [Hamilton] had already been signed. Toto’s done a tremendous job operating the team and maintaining their performance.

“But of course, he’s never experienced anything other than winning. So it’s a different type of pressure now. It’s tough,” said Wolff.

Red Bull had been dominating the sport before Mercedes’ dominance. Horner stated it is frustrating to lose every year to the German team since 2014.

It was frustrating. It’s very easy to lose motivation, but there was an inner determination to get back into a winning position. We’ve retained tremendous continuity during that period.

“You look around the engineering office now and many of the people still here were with us from 2010 to 2013. So we’ve had great continuity, but we’ve also brought along another generation of talent, youth, and capability,” said Christian.

It would be interesting to see if Toto Wolff agrees with Horner’s claims and his response to facing the greatest challenge till now.
