Aston Martin F1 Duo Emerge Victorious After Making It Rain on NBA’s Free Throw Challenge
It’s an exciting time to be in the United States right now. The NBA celebrates its 75th anniversary and F1 returns to the country after two years. To celebrate the success of the two iconic sports, NBA and F1 collaborated over the United States GP weekend. This included a thrilling free throw competition for the drivers on Thursday, but we wonder who won?
They pitted the F1 drivers against each other for the free throw contest. The mini court on the paddock drew in a majority of the drivers and the Formula 1 personnel to try their hand at shooting from the charity stripe.

Daniel Ricciardo showcased his Curry-esque skills, topping the driver’s board with 7/10 shots. However, the search was for the winning team. Aston Martin duo Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel took the win. Stroll was the MVP, helping the team win a solid $20,000 for a charity of their choice.

Although the competition was for the drivers, the rest of the paddock dusted off their hooping skills as well. In fact, a surprise appearance from Formula 1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali, had everyone stunned.
An energetic day on the paddock; the event gave room for a few laughs as some drivers’ performance would have left them on the sidelines. Regardless of the quality of the shot, the drivers were also given personalized jerseys after the session.
F1 entertained with the NBA
ESPN orchestrated the entertaining free throw game amongst the F1 drivers; this was meaningful because the media house streams NBA and brings Formula 1 to the American audience.
The celebration of the two very different sports was well-appreciated by the fans. The collaboration also resulted in some tempting F1 liveries. F1 cars draped in the colors of popular NBA teams seemed like a good idea for the sport to bring to life.

Now, as the 75th NBA season kicks off, the mini basketball challenge would have done little to quench the competition between our F1 teams. With six races to go, the championship is closing in. What will the order look like after the final race in Abu Dhabi?
