Dale Earnhardt Jr Weighs in on Non-Playoff vs Playoff Drivers NASCAR Debate

Ever since the Playoffs began, there have been numerous issues between the title contenders and non-Playoff drivers. Kyle Busch has been the most vocal about his displeasure. He declared that there was a complete lack of respect from their parts. According to him, this has been happening for the last four or five years. It only got worse with the newer generation of drivers coming in. Recently, Dale Earnhardt Jr spoke about this problem.

He said, “Somebody comes into the shop and takes half the tools out of the toolbox. They ask you to do the same job with less tools. Its just not fun going out on the race track and having to take care of guys. Having to be careful around this guy and this guy.”

What else did Dale Earnhardt say on the matter?

In a way, he does have a point, as the non-Playoff drivers can be a headache. On the other end of the scale, these drivers are battling for position and aiming to get decent results for their teams. So, one cannot expect them to move over and relinquish their hard-fought track positions.

Earnhardt Jr continued, “There are so many Playoff guys out there. You walk around on eggshells, trying not to ruin anybody’s day, trying to have good day of your own. So it’s kind of frustrating. I can kind of understand both sides of it, but I don’t know how we can fix that. It’s a tough situation.”

This situation has cropped up on the back of the Playoff race at Texas. On that occasion, there were a number of wrecks and collisions between Playoff and non-Playoff drivers. As a result, it severely hampered the formers’ ability to obtain a strong result to solidify their Championship 4 hopes. So it is perfectly understandable that the likes of Kyle Busch, were furious with their non-Playoff rivals.
