Daniel Ricciardo Collates Brown & Seidl Leadership to Former Red Bull Boss Marko

Daniel Ricciardo is certainly a fan-favourite on the grid, mostly for his incredible on-track skills and off-track charisma. And most of the teams he’s worked with have always enjoyed his presence irrespective of how long his stay lasted.

Two of the biggest teams Ricciardo has worked with are indeed Red Bull and McLaren, under the governance of Helmut Marko and Zak Brown, respectively. Well, being the only driver to have worked with bosses with such contrasting personalities, the Honey Badger put forward the differences and similarities between the two.

During a podcast, Ricciardo opened up that the primary difference between Marko and Brown is the volume of chattiness.

“I mean their personalities are very different, you know. Helmut’s a man of few words. Zak probably talks as much as me.

“But, then the similarity is they are both hungry, and yes they might show it in different ways through their personality. But, they are both so hungry to do this,” he said during the Beyond the Grid podcast.

The Australian managed to add another name to this list – his favourite team principal, Andreas Seidl. Ricciardo opened up about the most appealing factor of each of the bosses. For Marko, it’s the hunger while for Brown, it’s the love for racing, and finally, for Seidl, it’s the killer instinct.

“I mean, Helmut, everyone knows, you know, for him still to be travelling to every race doing this. That speaks for itself and I always respect and admire Helmut for that,” he said.

“And Zak is, you know, he wants to do it.

“He loves racing; he is the biggest fanboy in the most positive way. It gives him the desire to be better, to build a better team. And then Andreas has that German efficiency, and he’s got that killer instinct that you need in a team to kind of have that authority but also have that trust in the people around you.”

Overall, Ricciardo is certainly enjoying his stay at McLaren amidst the ever-growing positivity since the shocking downfall in the mid-2010s. And, considering the recent trajectory, the British outfit could well be in the championship mix soon. So, will Ricciardo accomplish his dream of becoming an F1 champion then?
