Disney and Nickelodeon voice actor Jack Angel dies aged 90

Voice actor Jack Angel has died at the age of 90 after lending his voice to productions from studios like Dreamworks, Disney, and Pixar.

The star’s agent confirmed the news in a statement, sharing a photo of him on Instagram. The company is owned by his wife, Arlene Thornton.

‘We are deeply saddened to share the sad news that our beloved Jack Angel has passed away,’ they wrote.

‘Business will be continued during this difficult time. We will share more information as we receive it but we do ask everyone to kindly respect Arlene’s privacy during this period of mourning.’

While he began his career in radio, Angel was best known for his work providing voice-overs for animations and video games.

Some of his first voice-over jobs were in the 1970s, for series like Super Friends, in which he played Hawkman, The Flash and Super Samurai.

In the 1980s, the voice actor went on to appear in The Transformers, from the second series onwards.

He voiced various characters, including Astrotrain, Smokescreen, Ramjet, and Omega Supreme.

Angel was also known for his work on animated films, including the likes of Monsters Inc, A Bug’s Life, Cars, Ice Age: The Meltdown, and Aladdin.

As well as his work for Disney, the actor also lent his voice to various Nickelodeon productions, including Hey Arnold!, The Wild Thornberrys, and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Tributes have been shared for the late star, with one fan writing: ‘R.I.P to a legend who’s voice helped bring many fan favourite Transformers characters to life.’

Another said: ‘RIP Jack Angel. A man of many voices from our collective childhoods, but I will always remember him best as Bud Flood, aka the loquacious Liquidator! My deepest condolences to his friends and family.’

One more wrote: ‘Big hugs to the friends, family and fans of Jack Angel! One of the nicest celebrities I ever met! Great guy that will live forever thanks to his many classic voices.’
