Jade Nelson is standing by her little sister Jesy amid her blackfishing scandal.
The former Little Mix member, 30, faced allegations of blackfishing following the release of her debut solo single Boyz, featuring Nicki Minaj.
The singer was also allegedly labelled ‘a blackfish’ by bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock in leaked DMs from influencer NoHun – a term used to describe a white person attempting to appear to have black heritage.
Taking to Instagram to defend Jesy, Jade, 34, broke her silence to take a swipe at ‘bullies’ who ‘set out to hurt’ her sister.
‘When bullies deliberately, and under-handedly set out to hurt someone they never expect to get caught,’ she began.
‘That’s why they try to get other people to do it for them.

‘However, when they are exposed and the victim simply stands up for themselves the bully quickly tries to turn the tables to make the victim take the blame.
‘That’s what bullies do.’
She admitted she was ‘taught never to be intimidated by bullies, but to stand up for myself when I have been wronged.’
Sharing that her sister was ‘targeted and bullied throughout her career,’ Jade said ‘the people who knew her best knew the exact extent to how bullying affected her.’
She referred to the ongoing blackfishing controversy as a ‘new wave of bullying,’ stressing those who know the pop star ‘know the potential impact’ it could have.

She ended her statement by speaking directly to readers asking, ‘Is this really what you want to do?’
She pleaded with the ‘media and everyone’ to ‘just stop, because you know her heart, her authenticity, her complete accepting and uncritical nature.’
Jesy appeared to appreciate her sister’s support as she liked the post from her own account.

She came under fire following the release of her Boyz music video, with critics feeling her skin was darker and her hair curly to appear racially ambiguous alongside the aesthetics of the video.
Jesy denied these claims but the situation escalated during a livestream with rapper Nicki, 38, when she defended her collaborator and called out her former bandmates.
It seems Jesy is attempting to move on from the blackfishing claims, as she recently shared a post to celebrate her journey and self belief.
More: Little Mix
Talking to her younger self in a childhood photo alongside BTS snaps from her latest video shoot, she said, ‘Little Jesy would be really proud of you.’
She urged her fans to remember that no dream is too big, no matter what it is.
