Lakers Coach Frank Vogel Vouches for Dwight Howard and Klay Thompson Following NBA 75 Snub
The NBA is celebrating its 75th anniversary and they are doing it in style. Be it with Anthony Davis (Lakers) Devin Booker (Suns), Kevin Durant (Nets), and others holding a diamond-rich customized basketball for a shoot or a legendary advertisement, the hype is soaring high. But amidst all this, the league has controversially blindsided players like Klay Thompson and a few others.
Well, the NBA’s 75 greatest players list has a few notable names sitting outside of it. And as is the case with any other coveted list of stars, the snub-war is all over the place after the announcement. So what’s the latest development in this direction?
Lakers coach Frank Vogel raised his voice for the left-out stars
In a recent interview where the Lakers head coach discussed Kendrick Nunn’s knee injury, he also took time to comment on the snubs. After making a solid case for Superman Dwight Howard, the 48-YO showed his absolute shock to not find Klay Thompson on the list of 75 greatest of all-time.
He also added “Klay Thompson’s not on there? Seriously?”https://t.co/3Qf1tiwFfn

This is in-tune with the Warriors’ injured star who had publicly expressed his disdain towards the list. He had said, “In my head, I’m Top 75 All-time” and was clearly unhappy about the disrespect on his name.

Why did Klay Thompson & Dwight Howard deserve a place?
Notably, the list of 75 players meant 158 titles and 1.5 million points accumulated as a combination of their achievements. Plus, it has 11 active players and some of these names have not accomplished things that Klay has.

Take for example, and this is debatable, Damian Lillard. Although the Blazers star is a 6x All-Star, he still has no ring when compared to a 3x NBA champion (from a dynastic squad) and 5x All-Star Klay. Even Richard Jefferson had recently agreed, “Klay Thompson should. Coz you forget the sacrifices that certain guys like Klay had to make.” He even went on to suggest, “Dwight Howard’s team was one of the most dominant teams in Orlando. He was a DPOY three times in a row…”
But the truth is, the list had only 75 positions and other notable names like Kyrie Irving, Manu Ginobili, and Pau Gasol also missed a mention. So maybe these guys will find their sure-shot way in the 100th anniversary list.
