NASCAR Reveals Mammoth $8 Million Purse for Upcoming Kansas Race

This weekend is the NASCAR Cup Series Playoff race at the Kansas Speedway. This marks the second race in the Round of 8, with seven drivers seeking three spots in the Championship 4. Now, reports have emerged that NASCAR officials have revealed the total purse for the Cup and Xfinity Series races. Naturally, when a driver wins a race, he is privy to other rewards, aside from a shiny trophy.

As per estimates, the Cup race offers a total prize of $7,972,577. Meanwhile, the Xfinity Series race offers a purse of $1,638,185.

It is also worth mentioning that the officials revealed the purse for next weekend’s Truck race at Martinsville. To be precise, there is a grand total of $674,952 up for grabs. However, the authorities have not issued a breakdown of the total prize money for all three races.

What to expect from the NASCAR Cup Race at Kansas

With Kyle Larson already through to the season finale at Phoenix, he is under zero pressure. Instead, the onus is on his seven remaining rivals to try and seize the three vacant Championship 4 slots. The Kansas race is only the start of the mad scramble to clinch a Final 4 berth, and drivers will be battling fiercely for it.

While all this is going on, Kyle Larson will simply be sitting pretty and awaiting his final challengers. Of course, Hendrick Motorsports could try and rope him into playing the team game. To be precise, they will be potentially recruiting him to get Chase Elliott into the Final 4. It is just the two of them, against three Joe Gibbs and three Penske cars, so they are a little outnumbered.

With his win at Texas, Kyle Larson will obviously start from pole position. However, it remains to be seen how the other eight Playoff drivers line up behind him. One thing is for sure, the Playoff drivers will be hoping to stay away from too much drama and avoid jeopardizing their chances.
