Red Bull Supremo Reacts After Max Verstappen Beats Lewis Hamilton at COTA Qualifying

Red Bull put on a scintillating show at the United States Grand Prix, qualifying at Austin, Texas. They finished the Saturday qualifying with pole position for Max Verstappen and P3 for Sergio Perez. The performance comes as surprise as they were struggling in Friday Practice but Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko mentioned he is happy with the progress.

The team were almost a second behind their rival Mercedes after FP1. But they slowly clawed back the deficit and finished on top of their rivals.

We maximized the performance: Red Bull advisor Marko

As reported by Formula Passion, the Austrian mentioned the team maximized the result on Saturday. He revealed the team worked on setting up the car better to challenge Mercedes on the weekend.

“We maximized the performance by working exclusively on the set-up,” said Marko.

He stated the team were even considering going on the medium tires at the start of Q3. “We even considered using the medium tire in Q3. I am very happy with Perez’s performance,” said Helmut.

Marko had previously stated that the team had found the antidote to their problems on Friday. ”We have had many intensive meetings and analyses since then. In theory, we have found an antidote, but let’s see how it looks in practice,” said Marko.

Red Bull‘s advisor has laid out the plan for his team to win the championship with just 6 races to go. ”We need two more wins and four podiums. That has to be the formula for the world title. Sergio Perez is in good form, but unfortunately, Valtteri Bottas was also in top form,” Marko concluded.

With this sudden influx of pace in the car, it would be interesting to see if Red Bull can actually win the race on Sunday.
