Strictly 2021: Fans blown away as Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice incorporate sign language into dance

Strictly Come Dancing star Rose Ayling-Ellis and her partner Giovanni Pernice had fans glued to their screens as they incorporated sign language into their dance.
The pair performed an incredible dramatic Viennese Waltz to Fallin’ by Alicia Keys, telling the story of a couple in a tumultuous relationship.
Rose, who is Deaf, taught Giovanni some sign language for the routine, with the pair performing an argument in BSL at the beginning of the stunning number.
They revealed at the end that the dance that the couple were arguing about breaking up.
‘I loved that the signing argument,’ one fan wrote, while another said: ‘YES @RoseAylingEllis ! love, love, LOVED the signing and the acting, and the dance was gorgeous. So incredibly brilliant.’
‘THE SIGNING ARGUMENT AT THE BEGINNING OF THEIR DANCE IM SOBBING I LOVE ROSE AND GIO SO MUCH,’ one more said, while another viewer added: ‘Love watching Rose and Gio together! The fact that Gio is signing aswell, I don’t know why but it makes me teary eyed.’
The judges were impressed as well, with them awarding Rose and Giovanni three nines and a 10, giving them one of the highest scores of the night.
Well deserved!
Rose recently shared with us how she had helped make the viewing experience better and more accessible for herself and others.
Despite always being a fan of the show, the EastEnders star found it difficult to watch with the subtitles used by the BBC.

She asked show bosses if an interpreter could be put on the programme, and was delighted when they agreed to her request.
Rose shared: ‘Obviously, for the launch show recently, last year and the year before, it always had live subtitles, even when it’s been recorded.

‘So I mentioned that to them and they realised that, so they’re like, “Okay, we’ll change the subtitles.”’
The star admitted: ‘I’m so happy. It means I can watch it. It means I can watch myself. I can’t watch it with live subtitles.’
Strictly Come Dancing returns tomorrow at 7:15pm on BBC One.
