Gogglebox viewers were left perplexed last night when fan-favourites Jenny Newby and Lee Riley were missing from the show, with several questioning if the good friends would be back.
On the latest episode of Gogglebox, viewers were introduced to a couple of new cast members, as Simon and his sister Jane joined the Channel 4 programme.
The siblings from North London joined in with the other stars of the series as they critiqued TV moments from Strictly Come Dancing, The Love Trap and You on Netflix, with several people saying they liked them immediately.
However, the arrival of Simon and Jane couldn’t distract from the fact that Jenny and Lee – who’ve been a part of the show since 2014 – were nowhere to be seen.
One person said that they ‘really missed’ the pair on the series, while another questioned: ‘Will they be back?’
‘Where are Jenny & Lee this week?’ one person asked, while another said: ‘What’s happened tonight… No Jenny & Lee?’

Fortunately, there appears to be a clear cut explanation as to why they weren’t on the episode.
A few days ago, the joint Instagram account for Jenny and Lee shared a picture of Lee and his husband Steve on holiday, in celebration of Steve’s birthday.
‘A big happy birthday Steve. Now lets celebrate the Cyprus way [sic],’ the caption read.
So it appears Jenny and Lee missed this week’s episode in favour of celebrating Steve’s birthday.
Fellow Gogglebox star Ellie Warner commented on the post, writing: ‘Happy birthday Steve,’ with a series of jubilant emojis.
Paige Deville, who had been on the programme since 2019, recently announced that she had decided to quit, citing ‘zero aftercare support’.
In response, a Gogglebox spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘The welfare of contributors – past and present – is of paramount importance and robust protocols are in place to support contributors before, during and after taking part in the series.’

After quitting the show, Paige shared tweets opening up about her departure and her relationship with her mum Sally Hayward, who has also stepped back from Gogglebox.
‘To clarify, people thinking I fell out with my mom over Gogglebox, my “mom” is an absolute disgrace who I wish to never speak to again due to a serious family issue NOT about a tv show,’ Paige wrote.
Metro.co.uk has contacted Jenny and Lee’s representative for comment.
Gogglebox returns next Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
