WTA Transylvania Open 2021 Announces Disappointing News for Simona Halep and Emma Raducanu Fans
Due to a recent spike in coronavirus cases in Romania, the upcoming WTA 250 Transylvania Open 2021 will have to transpire behind closed doors. Indeed, it is a big blow for fans who had plans for watching Simona Halep, Emma Raducanu, Paula Badosa, Elise Mertens, and others in live-action. Similarly, the players would also face a massive challenge, competing without the external energy from stands.
What’s more, the decision arrived from the Romanian Government only days before the main event in Cluj-Napoca. Thus, the players might not be well-prepared mentally to go out and perform without fans again after a long time. But given the situation, everyone will aim to do their best to make this event a success.

Emma Raducanu, Simona Halep, and others to feature in Transylvania Open 2021
After the Indian Wells upset, US Open champion Emma Raducanu will make her much-anticipated comeback in Romania. However, there won’t be any fans to cheer for her.
Even so, it is an opportunity for the 18-year-old to get some match time on the WTA Tour. Besides, Raducanu hasn’t won much on WTA Tour-level so this might be the time to get that done.

In the latest announcement, the Transylvania Open tweeted about fans not being a part of the tournament this year. They wrote, “Now we are incredibly sad to not have you, our friends, in the stands.”
We did our absolute best to be prepared with the safest possible event in these special circumstances, following all the rules and the safety procedures, and we were confident in our ability to deliver it.

Furthermore, the local star and former World No.1 Simona Halep will also compete in Romania. Even she, along with the rest of the main draw, will miss the fans this year.
Despite that, the two-time Grand Slam champion will hope to do well in her home country. Coming back from injury and a few disappointing results, it might be her place to get back into rhythm.
Can Halep or Raducanu qualify for the WTA Finals 2021?
Up until the desert, Raducanu had an outside chance to make it into the top 8 players of the year. But now, she is officially out of the Race to the WTA Finals.

Besides, Halep missed out on several tournaments because of her calf injury, including the French Open and Wimbledon. Therefore, she had been out of contention much before the English teenager.
But above all, both Raducanu and Halep are compelled to succeed in the WTA 250 Transylvania Open. Let’s see who takes the limelight here. The tournament starts on 25th October 2021.
