Bound For Glory: Moose steals IMPACT Wrestling World Championship from Josh Alexander after emotional win

We’ve got a new champion (Picture: IMPACT Wrestling)

Josh Alexander won the IMPACT Wrestling World Championship at Bound For Glory, only to lose it to Moose moments later.

The former X-Division Champion – who had a fairy tale rise to the top of the mountain in the company which sparked his dream of being a professional wrestler – saw his moment of glory turn into a nightmare on Saturday night.

After a fantastic main event between the two Canadians, Alexander brought the gold back to IMPACT by defeating the current AEW star as he tapped out to the ankle lock.

They hugged after the bell, before the new champ posed with the gold as his wife and son hopped into the ring to celebrate – but there was one more twist in the tale.

Moose – who won the Call Your Shot gauntlet earlier in the night – came to the ring to cash in his title opportunity, and hit a spear for the three count.

It was a disappointing end (we understand the role Moose is playing and that fans were meant to feel that Alexander was screwed here) to a very strong show with some major moments throughout.

The night started as The IInspiration stars Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay – formerly WWE’s IIconics as Peyton Royce and Billie Kay – beat the Decay for the Knockouts Tag Team Titles, while Trey Miguel overcame Steve Maclin and El Phantasmo to win the the X-Division Championship.

In a very nice moment, Trey was congratulated on Twitter by NXT stars Wes Lee and Nash Carter, who are now known as MSK but worked alongside him as The Rascalz before joining WWE.

Wes tweeted: ‘AND THATS HOW YOU MAKE YOUR DREAMS A REALITY!!! SO HAPPY AND PROUD OF YOU @TheTreyMiguel!! A Prince Crowned King..Love you!! (sic)’

Rhino returned to reunite with Heath as they overcame Violent By Design’s Deaner and Joe Doering, and Moose’s Call Your Shot Gauntlet win came in a match featuring the likes of NJPW’s Rocky Romero, WWE legend and current NWA star Melina Perez, The KISS Demon, and runner-up Matt Cardona.

The Good Brothers held onto the IMPACT World Tag Team Titles despite the best efforts of FinJuice and Bullet Club, while Mickie James won her 10th women’s title as she beat Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo is the upset of the night.
