BTS made their anticipated return to the stage at their first concert in a year – and it was like they had never been away.

The K-pop superstars performed during their BTS Permission to Dance On Stage show on Sunday, with the event live-streamed around the world.

Jimin, V, J-Hope, Suga, Jungkook, Jin and RM were forced to cancel their Map of the Stars world tour due to the ongoing Covid pandemic, but their virtual gig proved to be the next best thing for fans who have been desperate to hear their latest songs live for the first time.

BTS didn’t disappoint as they executed slick choreography, epic stage production and conversated with their global online audience.

The setlist included fan-favourites such as Boy With Luv, Burning Up (Fire) and Idol, while they also performed recent hits Dynamite and Butter.

However, the concert wasn’t completely without a hitch as BTS member V was forced to perform sitting down after injuring his leg.

Big Hit Music confirmed hours before that V wouldn’t be able to join in with the choreography per doctors’ orders.

They said in a statement: ‘We would like to provide the following information regarding the performance of BTS member V as part of today’s BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE.

‘V experienced pain in his calf muscles during rehearsal on the evening of October 23 and visited a nearby hospital for examination and treatment. It was the opinion of the medical personnel that while there was no issue affecting the bones in his legs, he should refrain from vigorous movement such as choreography or stage performance for the time being.’

The agency revealed that V himself ‘strongly wished to participate in the performance in full’ but the company has chosen to follow doctors’ advice and ‘minimise [his] movements’ during today’s event.

They added: ‘As a result, V will take part in the performance while seated and without choreography. We ask for your understanding.
