Charles Leclerc Accidentally Confuses the Italian National Anthem for the Monegasque Anthem

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc hails from Monaco but does hold Italy close to his heart. However, in a recent video posted by the Scuderia, the 24-year-old confused the Italian national for Monaco’s.

The Ferrari driver soon realized his huge mistake. Meanwhile, his teammate, Carlos Sainz couldn’t hold back the banter and continued to tease the Monegasque racing driver for his goof up.

Charles Leclerc mixes the Italian national anthem for the Monegasque anthem

The 24-year-old driver is considered to be one of the biggest talents on the Formula One grid. However, he might not be the best in recognizing a country’s national anthem. In a fun challenge with his Spanish teammate, Leclerc confuses the Italian anthem with his own country.

When the anthem was being played, Leclerc soon responded, “Monegasque anthem.” He soon realized his mistake and said, “Oh my God, what did I say? Monagasque anthem.”

Soon after the major error, both Leclerc and Sainz continued to hum the anthem. Leclerc later said, “Because it felt like home, I was trying to sing it like this.” Sainz interrupted him and said, “That is minus one, and plus one. You lost like seven points in that.”

Leclerc was still in disbelief and said, “Oh my God, I was so sure by myself. I was like, this sounds like home.”

Where is Leclerc starting for the US Grand Prix?

The Ferrari driver qualified fifth in yesterday’s qualifying session, but as Valtteri Bottas will receive a grid penalty; Leclerc will gain a place and see the five-red lights from fourth on the grid.
