F1 Drivers Join the Congratulating Brigade as Fabio Quartararo Makes French History With MotoGP Crown

As the F1 championship is underway, its two-wheeled counterpart declared its champion in Italy. After an intense season, Fabio Quartararo took the crown as he crossed the checkered flag in P4 at Misano.

It was a momentous occasion for Quartararo; he is now the first Frenchman in MotoGP history to bag the title. The racer was at a disadvantage- starting P15 on the grid; he headed to what was going to be a dramatic last race at Emilia Romagna.

Multiple storylines arose all at once as the race neared its end. Fabio’s title contender, Pecco Bagnaia, crashed with five laps to go. All Quartararo had to do was to maintain his position, and that’s what El Diablo did. Ahead of him, however, Marc Marquez leads Honda in a 1-2 race finish.

Fabio is also Daniel Ricciardo‘s neighbor in Monaco! The two are good friends and spend a lot of time together. Additionally, Quartararo even did a shoey on his podium in America this season; a tip of the hat to Ricciardo’s trademark celebrations.
