“Pissed About the Fight”: Anthony Joshua Gets Candid About His Loss to Oleksandr Usyk

Anthony Joshua came across a harsh reality when Oleksandr Usyk vanquished him via unanimous decision on September 25 for the unified heavyweight world titles. It was a massive upset which most of the fans hadn’t envisioned.

The boxing world was ready to witness Usyk’s maiden professional loss, as he was new to the heavyweight unit. However, ‘The Cat’ shocked the world and maintained his undefeated professional record. Following a 12-round battle, the Ukrainian star had his hands raised.

Unlike several of his contemporaries, Joshua accepted the loss wholeheartedly. That said, the Brit, who isn’t happy with the outcome, commented on his second defeat on Snapchat. Through his words, he also sent a message to his opponent.

Anthony Joshua wrote, “Still pissed about the fight. Ima take the bull by the horns n do everything in my power to get things right.”

Following his second professional loss, AJ has lost his claim towards a four-belt unification fight against WBC titleholder Tyson Fury. On grabbing the win against Usyk, AJ could have gone straight for Fury. But the chances now appear bleak and we may never see a potential AJ-Fury fight again. However, Anthony Joshua seems willing to regain his titles at any cost.

He has reportedly gone for the re-match clause and shall face Oleksandr Usyk in early 2022 to settle the dust for one and for all. If Joshua gets his tiles back, he can re-enter the title picture. That said, he seems to be hunting for a new trainer.

Can Anthony Joshua get back his win?

After being dominated in the first fight, Joshua needs to offer something different. As it is hard to outbox the nimble southpaw, AJ may have to hunt for a KO. He cannot let Usyk take control of the fight, or it will be similar to what happened in the original clash. As he has avenged a loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2019, AJ has a fair chance of beating Usyk.

However, Usyk is way different from Andy Ruiz Jr., and in no way he will get over his technical abilities. It will demand a lot from Joshua. The British star has already met Ronnie Shields, Eddy Reynoso, and several more trainers.
