Stephen A. Smith Explains Why Stephen Curry Belongs on the Same Pedestal as Michael Jordan

When it comes to best offensive talents ever to grace the basketball court, names like Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant might be a common sight. But arguably the greatest offensive talent ever was Michael Jordan.

His incredible scoring prowess translated to a record 10-scoring titles in the 15 seasons Jordan played. Often averaging over 30 points, MJ set a standard on how lethal one player can be offensively.

In the modern NBA, players like Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant have established themselves as offensive wizards. While it is not as dominated with post-up play, three point shooting has played a massive role in their offensive output.

Stephen A. Smith claims Stephen Curry at a similar level as Michael Jordan

Over the years, Curry has proven that not only is he an expert shooter, he is an offensive wizard. Especially last season, Steph was a go-to option for the Warriors and dragged the way all the way to the play-in spots.

The 2-time MVP has begun the 2021-22 season in incredible fashion as well. After a quiet performance against the Warriors, the 32-year-old put up an incredible 45 point performance against the Clippers.

After his incredible display, analyst Stephen A.Smith was all praises for Curry. Recently, Smith said, “I’m looking at the greatest shooter in the history of man that was number one. Number tw0, this guy finally belongs in the discussion with Michael Jordan as one of the greatest offensive players we’ve ever seen in an entirely different.”

The veteran analyst continued, “He’s the greatest shooter that we’ve ever seen and he has that kind of impact on the game….. This dude is just on another level I’ve never seen anything like him.”

After missing majority of the 2019-20 season, Curry surely had his doubters. But ever since the beginning of the 2020-21 season, the 2-time MVP has silenced his doubters in some style. While many hail him for his shooting, Steph has it all as a modern scorer.

Be it soft touch around the rim, incredible layups, mid-range shots or even threes from the logo, Curry’s offensive game is a must-watch. While Durant might be held as perhaps our generation’s finest offensive weapon leaving out Curry would be unfair. Do you think Steph is at the same pedestal as Jordan in terms of offense?
