“Worried Zero About it” – Daniel Hemric on his Chances of Making the Xfinity Championship 4

This weekend is the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at the Kansas Speedway. In the buildup to the race, Daniel Hemric is just on the exit of qualifying. Just two points separate him from the Top 4 positions and Noah Gragson. Obviously, the first instinct is to gun for a win. Beyond that, it will be a mad scramble to take the Final 4 slots. Hemric spoke about the pressure on him to try and make it, but his answer was surprising.

He said, “Not that past results guarantees any kind of future success. I’ve worried zero about it, I go and try to run my race. Obviously, you’re aware of other guys, but there is so much that can happen like that. We’ve seen in all three series, in the swing of a corner or someone’s decision, all that worrying does you no good. You focus on yourself, I have no clear cut scenario that I look at. I don’t care, I just go race and do my job.”

What can Daniel Hemric do to ensure his qualification?

As mentioned before, Hemric can only hope to win and automatically snatch a Final 4 berth. His cause was helped when he got pole position for this race, despite finishing second last weekend. This is because race-winner John Hunter Nemechek was a non-entity in the Playoff battle, so Daniel Hemric inherited pole position.

Now, the onus is on Hemric to try and claim victory at the Kansas Speedway. However, he will have to contend with the likes of Austin Cindric, AJ Allmendinger, and more. The 30-year-old will also be dimly aware that even if he does not win at Kansas, there is always Martinsville. For the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing driver, the real target is JR Motorsports driver, Noah Gragson. If he can outscore Gragson in these next two races, he should be able to snatch a Top 4.
