Xander Zayas Outclasses Veteran Dan Karpency to Continue His Unbeaten Streak

The State Farm Arena hosts a top young prospect as he makes his ESPN debut. Puerto Rican boxing prodigy Xander Zayas took on Dan Karpency, a veteran fighter more than a decade his senior at 30-years-old in a six-round junior lightweight bout. Xander, who looks to become the next big thing in boxing, started off strong using his body shots well.

In the very second round, he knocked Karpency’s mouthguard out. Throughout the fight, Zayas controlled the distance, and control the tempo of the fight. Karpency could not handle the hand speed and head movement of the 19-year-old Puerto Rican. After the end of the fourth round, Dan Karpency’s corner stopped the fight.

The American took too much damage from the Puerto Rican without dishing out any significant damage. Zayas now goes on to 5 wins in this year itself and 11-0 overall. The young prospect out-landed his opponent by 61 punches. Zayas proved to be too quick for Dan Karpency, a fighter who had never been stopped before.

In the third round as well, Zayas knocked Karpency’s mouthpiece out. Zayas used his reach advantage very well, moving in and out of his range while dealing combos to the head and body.
