US Grand Prix vs Sunday Night Football: Did F1 Trounce NFL On Jam-Packed Weekend?

This weekend featured a blitz of sports fixtures that would’ve left any fan amazed. From soccer to basketball to Formula One and even cricket, this weekend was jam-packed with incredible action. However, there were two organisations that drew the most attention, Formula One and the NFL. Did Sunday Night Football trounce the US Grand Prix this weekend?

US Grand Prix and Sunday Night Football go head to head

F1 coming to America is already the biggest deal in sports annually. The Circuit of The Americas in Arlington, Texas is a destination for all motorsport fans. Even Daniel Ricciardo could not stop himself from taking a spin in his hero, Dale Earnhardt’s NASCAR speedster. But on the other side of things, we had the sport Americans cannot live without.

Sunday Night Football witnessed three absolute corkers which collided with the beginning of the US Grand Prix. Kansas City Chiefs, the two-time Super Bowl finalists squared up against the surprise package of the season, Tennessee Titans. KC Chiefs received a tanning from the Titans, a win the Tennessee outfit won’t forget for ages.

Sunday Night Football also witnessed Green Bay Packers going up against Washington, where Aaron Rodgers shone again. Third and finally, Baltimore Ravens faced Cincinnati Bengals in a heavyweight clash, which ended spectacularly. The Bengals rewrote history and put down the Ravens, thanks to scintillating performances from Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase.

While official numbers aren’t in, many can safely assume that NFL once again got the win over F1 this weekend. But official attendance numbers show 140,000 people at COTA for the esteemed race. Max Verstappen held off his championship rival, Lewis Hamilton, to take home the gold and extending his championship lead in front of 140,000 screaming fans.

If that doesn’t make you believe F1 took over the United States this weekend, nothing else will. Regardless, the latter half of Sunday Night Football must’ve destroyed F1 numbers. After all, Tom Brady took the field to create another piece of history.
