Warner Bros Television has spoken out in defense of actor Dougray Scott after Batwoman co-star Ruby Rose accused him of ‘abusive behaviour’.

The studio insisted that Scott, who plays Batwoman’s father, Colonel Jacob Kane on The CW series, is a ‘consummate professional’.

It also said that there has never been any ‘allegation against him of bullying, or of abusive behaviour on his part’.

‘We condemn the comments made by Ruby Rose about Dougray Scott,’ Warner Bros said in a statement.

‘Warner Bros. has found Mr. Scott to be a consummate professional, and never received any allegation against him of bullying, or of abusive behavior on his part.

‘Mr. Scott was greatly respected and admired by his colleagues and was a leader on the set.’

It continued: ‘Warner Bros. Television did not pick up Ruby Rose’s option for an additional season because of multiple complaints about workplace behaviour that were extensively reviewed by the Studio.’

The statement comes after Rose hit out at Scott on social media and threatened legal action against executive producer Greg Berlanti.

‘Dougray. I have too many witnesses coming forward with worse than just your anger Issues [stet].. but ur sueing me for 10 million cos @gberlanti shared his lawyer with you.. please.. come first so I can use the money from that case to take on g berlanti,’ she wrote on Instagram stories.

Rose had previously launched a scathing attack on her Batwoman bosses alleging of awful working conditions behind the scenes.

In a lengthy string of stories on the social media platform, the 35-year-old said ‘enough is enough’ as she hit back at reports of her time on the programme, and called out showrunner Caroline Dries, and former Warner Brothers TV chairman Peter Roth.

Fellow castmate Scott was also in the firing line.

‘I will come for you so what happened to me never happens to another person again. And so I can finally take back my life and the truth. Shame on you,’ Rose began.

She then shared videos from a doctor’s appointment regarding an injury she said she suffered during filming, with a health expert discussing her injured ribs, as well as a clip of her in hospital undergoing surgery on her neck.

‘So in closing, please to my dear, dear fans stop asking if I will return to that awful show, I wouldn’t return for any amount of money nor if a gun were to my head,’ she continued. ‘NOR DID I QUIT. I DO NOT QUIT, They ruined Kate Kane and they destroyed Batwoman, not me.

‘I followed orders, and if I wanted to stay I was going to have to sign my rights away.’

Addressing showrunner Dries, Ruby alleged that she wanted the team to ‘finish the season throughout the pandemic’, which the actress said was a ‘bad idea’.

She claimed that when filming finally did shut down during lockdown, it was because ‘the government pulled it’.

The star ended her stories by alleging that co-star Dougray yelled at women behind the scenes and ‘was a nightmare’, adding that she tried to input a ‘no yelling policy’ on set, but claimed that this was declined by bosses.

Warner Bros responded, saying: ‘Despite the revisionist history that Ruby Rose is now sharing online aimed at the producers, the cast and crew, the network, and the Studio, the truth is that Warner Bros. Television had decided not to exercise its option to engage Ruby for season two of Batwoman based on multiple complaints about workplace behavior that were extensively reviewed and handled privately out of respect for all concerned.’

Actress Javicia Leslie has since taken over as the superhero, becoming the first Black actress to take on the role on television.
