Google warns of burglary risk for your home after shocking trend spotted
A SCARY Google Search trend might make you want to tighten up your home security.
Google Trends data is said to show that phrases associated with robberies have increased in popularity.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Google searches for the phrases “how to rob a house” and “how to break a window”have increased by up to 50% in the area.
The increase was said to happen between July and August.
Searching the phrase “how to rob a house” reportedly went up by 50% and “how to break into a house” went up by 14%.
Searches for “how to break a window” were also said to go up by almost a fifth in the same time period.
Crime in Liverpool was said to fall by 23% during the pandemic.

The increase in the search trend appears to coincide with an easing of restrictions.
According to the Echo, Jonathan Wall, UK general manager of home security firm, SimpliSafe said: “It’s concerning to see these search term figures, but with restrictions easing and the darker nights looming, we may unfortunately see a consistent increase when it comes to burglaries and other crime.
“The fact that the monthly search volume for “how to rob a house” doubled in just one month shows how crucial it is for us not to get complacent with our home security routines, now that we’re out and about more.”
The UK police website has a whole section about how to protect your home from crime.
It states: “A determined burglar can be difficult to discourage. Good-quality doors, windows and locks are excellent deterrents, but there’s even more you can do to stop burglars in their tracks.”
The police advise marking and registering your valuable items in case they are stolen.
