Kings’ Davion Mitchell Explains Why Steph Curry Is Harder to Guard Than Damian Lillard and Donovan Mitchell

NBA and Sacramento Kings rookie Davion Mitchell has played just three NBA games, including one against Steph Curry’s Golden State Warriors. Despite a small sample size of games, Mitchell has thrilled fans and NBA colleagues with impressive performances against established players in the league. And recently, Mitchell commented on having to defend against Steph Curry and the Warriors.

The 23-year-old Sacramento Kings point guard was speaking at a post-match press conference after his game against the Warriors. Some players Davion Mitchell has faced include Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, Donovan Mitchell, Jordan Clarkson, Jordan Poole, and Stephen Curry, and a reporter quizzed Mitchell about the “most difficult” player he faced in those games.

Davion Mitchell answered, “I think for me, it is probably Steph. I mean just cause it is kind of a more off-ball situation where he can really play the game of basketball off the ball. Like he is always moving, setting great screens, getting layups, and getting his teammates’ openings.”

Mitchell was ready for the challenges that lay ahead, saying, “You got to do a lot of film study. I mean, especially these guys are really good, you have to try to take away things that they like to do, to kind of slow them down a little bit. But it’s hard. I mean the NBA is a really good league, you have to play someone every night. So I am looking forward to it, we’ll be prepared.”

Steph Curry’s Warriors hold off the Kings in away game

The Golden State Warriors extended their perfect start to the season with a win against fellow Californian team Sacramento Kings. This brings up the Warriors’ win tally to 3-0 this season. The Warriors cruised to a 119-107 victory against the Kings with a few bumps on the road.

Steph Curry was once again the focal point for his team’s attack, as he totaled 27 points and 10 assists. Jordan Poole was in splendid form for the Warriors, finishing the game with 22 points. Kings rookie Davion Mitchell scored 17 points in the first half and ended the game with 22 points in just his third NBA game.

The Warriors face Oklahoma City Thunder next, who haven’t won since the start of the season.
