“Pretty Strong Use of Words” – Lewis Hamilton Chimes on Toto Wolff’s US GP Suggestion

Lewis Hamilton could not stop Max Verstappen from winning the US Grand Prix on Sunday. The Mercedes driver tried everything and challenged his title rival till the end of the race, but came out short.

Mercedes looked the faster car in FP1 and was a second ahead of Red Bull. But after that, they were never on the pace with Red Bull and suddenly just lagged behind. Hamilton, too, did not know how they lost so much ground to their rivals.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff had stated that the bumps on the circuit had massacred their race and damaged the car. But when asked in the post-race press conference if the bumps on the track affected the performance.

Lewis replied,” That’s a pretty strong use of words there. There wasn’t a big problem. Right, I think it was a bumpy circuit, first of all, but we ended up going back to where we started the weekend, so there was no problem.”

I’m not thinking about it at the moment: Lewis Hamilton

As reported by Formula1.com, the 7-time world champion stated he is not concerned that he is behind Max Verstappen in the championship. He analyzed his race and mentioned that they were just not quick enough.

” I’m not thinking about it at the moment. I’ve got to be happy with the job that I did today and live in the moment. Unfortunately, we weren’t quick enough to win the race today, but yeah, we just look forward and take it one race at a time.

We have no idea… they are two circuits that are strong for Red Bull, so we just try to minimize how strong they can be compared to us and see if we can do a better job.” said Hamilton.

Lewis is now 12 points behind Verstappen with just 5 races to go. Out of those 5 acres, two races are predicted to favor Red Bull.
