“Hello and welcome to your first One Show of the week,” Jermaine started the the show.
He continued: “Live on BBC One and iPlayer with me – yes, just me.
“Alex Scott should be with me but unfortunately she’s been hit, like so many, with that dreaded superbug.”
Before continuing on with hosting duties, he added: “So get well soon, Scotty. We can’t wait to have you back.”
Jermaine had a huge show ahead of him to handle solo as he chatted to Joanna Lumley and Doctor Who star, John Bishop live in the studio, while performer Michael Ball joined them via video link.
John shared with The One Show viewers a teaser clip of his character Dan Lewis, the Doctor’s latest companion.

Jermaine managed to pull off the show amazingly on his own, as John hilariously congratulated the host as he tried to close the episode out.
The comedian kept shouting his congratulations over Jermaine as he tried to close the show, thanks the guests and preview Tuesday’s nights show.
While many fans watching at home were worried about Alex’s health, many rushed to congratulate Jermaine on a job well done.
“Not an easy job even when shared – live telly, three disparate guests, video reports, autocue, scripts, viewer comments . . . Well done,” wrote one happy fan on Twitter.
Another added: “Thought you did a grand job on the @BBCTheOneShow holding it together single handed.”
And a third wrote: “And breathe JJ, You did a fantastic job.”
