“They’re Useless!”- Dana White Says He Will Never Make Fights in One UFC Weight Class
Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori were set to clash in a middleweight bout at UFC Vegas 41. As the Brazilian failed to make weight, the bout was about to take place at 195 pounds catchweight. However, Costa couldn’t cut down to 195 pounds. Hence, the fight came to fruition in the light heavyweight category.
Following the event, UFC president Dana White appeared at the post-fight press conference and expressed his disgust over the fights that happen at catchweight in an interview.
While sharing his views White said, “First of all, let’s just make this absolutely clear I hate fights at catchweight. I never make catchweight. How many fights have we done in twenty years? I hate them because they mean nothing. They’re useless!”
Despite being heavier than his opponent, Costa ended up losing the bout via a unanimous decision. Later, he received a lot of hate from the fight fans for not making weight.
Meanwhile, the Italian fighter was lauded by several people for taking up the fight and winning with an impressive performance inside the octagon. The UFC Kingpin later announced in the same interview that Costa will have to continue fighting in the lightweight division of the UFC now.
However, Costa and Vettori weren’t the only fighters White talked about. He also gave an update on the fan-favorite UFC fighter.
Dana White shares massive news for the UFC fans
Recently, there was some heat generated between the former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson and Diaz on the internet. This is surely a fight that the fight fans might enjoy. Hence, fans were curious about what is next for Nate Diaz and whether he would fight Tony Ferguson.
However, Dana White declined the claims about any such bout. He said, “He’s got one more fight. We’re working on a fight for him. Tony wasn’t one of the guys we were working on, but we’re working on a fight for Nate now. He’s got one fight left.”

After losing to Jorge Masvidal, Diaz returned to the octagon to face the British welterweight Leon Edwards. Unfortunately, the Stockton native lost the fight. But he made sure that he entertained the masses.

Ever since then, fight fans are eagerly waiting to know what is next for their favorite fighter. From a rematch with ‘Gamebred’ to a blockbuster trilogy fight with the former two-division champion, Conor McGregor, fans have hinted at everything for Diaz. However, nothing is official yet.
