Zach LaVine Passes Michael Jordan to Climb the Ladder on a Major Chicago Bulls Franchise Record

The Chicago Bulls are on a mission. It’s as if they’re doing their best to allow their fans to relive those Michael Jordan days. With an 8-0 record (including preseason) to start the 2021-22, Zach LaVine and Co. are chasing everything from the Jordan era.

The Bulls boast a very balanced lineup with DeMar DeRozan, Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, and Nikola Vucevic as their top guns. And this lineup is proving to be a major help for Zach’s odds of beating Air Jordan at various franchise records.

With his 556th career three-pointer, Zach LaVine officially became the 4th player in Bulls history with the most made 3Ps. This historic moment came after the 26-YO dropped a big three over Raptors’ Khem Birch. Take a look –

Now, MJ was never much of a long-range shooter (which was the case for the entire league in those days), but he was still pretty clutch and good at it. In his 930 games with the Bulls, the 6x Champion averaged 33.2% from beyond the arc and scored 0.6 threes per game. 

Currently, Zach is averaging (with Bulls) a way better 38.9% from downtown, leading to 2.7 daggers per night.

Who are the three-point leaders in the Chicago Bulls history?

After Zach LaVine’s 558 made threes, he is at the fourth position just behind legendary Scottie Pippen (664). At the second and the first position are Ben Gordon (770) and Kirk Hinrich (1049). Zach’s achievement is impressive mostly because he has done it with the Bulls in five seasons what took 10+ seasons for Kirk, Scottie, and MJ.

Also, going by the same rate, Zach is on his way to beat Scottie in this season itself and then chase down Ben in the next one. If he could do that, he will surely be remembered as one of the greatest Bulls players in history. However, that will take him to stay a Bull for the rest of his career.
