Bookies slash England’s odds to win the Ashes as Ben Stokes returns to squad

ENGLAND’S odds of winning the Ashes down under have been slashed by the bookies after Ben Stokes’ sensational return to the squad.

The superstar all-rounder has been drafted back into the Ashes squad after taking a break from international duty.

Stokes is back in the right frame of mind after prioritising his mental health while also recovering from his injured left-index finger.

His return to the side has seen England’s odds cut from 9/2 to 4/1 to win the tournament with Betfair.

Stokes said: “I had a break to prioritise my mental wellbeing and I got my finger sorted.

“I am looking forward to seeing my mates and being on the field with them. I’m ready for Australia.”

However Australia are still odds-on favourites at 1/4 to win the Ashes.
