Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani has revealed the dedication that went into his character, even taking four months worth of dance lessons for one scene.

The Big Sick writer and actor plays Kingo in Chloe Zhao’s new Marvel spectacular, and his character definitely isn’t afraid to be the centre of attention.

In a spectacular scene, Kumail leads a Bollywood moment, and he told Metro.co.uk: ‘The dance sequence – that was what I was most nervous about because I’m not really a natural dancer so I took four months of dance lessons to learn how to do it.

‘That was the one I was most nervous about but it ended up being the most fun two days.’

Asked what drew him to the movie, Kumail revealed the Oscar-winning director was a huge factor.

‘Chloe Zhao, I’m a huge fan of hers,’ he said.

‘I’ve seen all her movies and I just think she’s one of the greatest filmmakers working and the fact that she’s going to do a big Marvel movie and she wanted me in it to play a superhero who’s a Bollywood movie star, it’s like everything I ever wanted coming together at once! I couldn’t believe it.’

Reminiscing on his favourite moment on set, the actor added: ‘I think there’s a moment where we’re all sort of standing on a cliff at the beginning of the movie – that was the first day that we’d all put our costumes on together and so we’re seeing each other’s costumes for the first time and it’s just like, “Wow! We’re in a Marvel superhero movie!”‘

Eternals, directed by Oscar-winner Chloe, is part of the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The film features immortal aliens who have been secretly living on Earth for thousands of years waiting for the right moment to jump into action.
