Ferrari F1 Under Tremendous Pressure from Spanish Media After Another Carlos Sainz Botch-job

Carlos Sainz, the new addition to the Ferrari family, is doing all he could in order to keep the Maranello outfit in the fight against their rivals and his former F1 team, McLaren.

However, in recent weeks, his pit crew hasn’t been as involved in Sainz’s pursuit of strong results. Instead, more often than not, they were caught napping, consequently pulling off terribly slow pit stops, which ultimately affected the Spaniard’s race results.

After a disastrous pit stop in Turkey, Ferrari yet again failed to release Sainz within the crucial 3-second mark in the United States; Sainz had to stall in his pit box for a costly 5.6s and paid the hefty price of losing his place to Daniel Ricciardo and later to Valtteri Bottas as well.

Well, the Spanish media aren’t taking this lightly. Inducing an error once or twice wouldn’t have caused a stir, but, the fact that the same mistakes are repeated over and over again has left the media red-faced. As reported by Formula Passion, one of the Madrid newspapers lashed out at Ferrari for the US pit-stop debacle.

What did the Spanish newspaper write about Ferrari?

From the title to the content inside, there were accusations on Ferrari, who are certainly pulling back the ex-McLaren driver from defeating his new teammate, Charles Leclerc. “The umpteenth time that Ferrari apologizes to Sainz,” the title read.

It rains in the wet on Ferrari’s disastrous stops. Lately, Carlos Sainz has been suffering the impossible at every stop, and he is certainly the most penalized by the team in this aspect. (Translated from Spanish)

“In Austin, he had to suffer another unfortunate stop, this time of 5.6 seconds. The list of problems he encountered during the tire change is already long: at Silverstone, they were 12.3 seconds, in Hungary 3.8, in Turkey 8.1,” one of Marca’s articles read.

This is obviously unacceptable from Ferrari. But, what’s more shocking is that Sainz is still within striking distance of his teammate despite the roadblocks. And how amazing would it be if he manages to finish ahead in the championship!

Well, again, for that to happen, Ferrari must find a way to end their pit-stop miseries with the Spaniard. Hence, with five more races in hand, can the Maranello crew manage to accomplish Sainz’s pit stops to perfection?
