Gogglebox star teases return for the Tapper family ahead of the show’s 10th anniversary

Former Gogglebox star Amy Tapper has suggested the much-loved Tapper family could return to the Channel 4 show as it nears its 10th anniversary.

The Tapper family were brought in as one of the original cast members when the show started back in 2013.

Mum Nikki, dad Jonathan, and siblings Josh and Amy all became favourites over their stint which lasted for five years until 2018.

But after it was confirmed there were no plans for them to make a comeback earlier this year, it seemed unlikely they would ever take up their roles as professional TV critics ever again.

However, the youngest member of the family Amy recently hinted we may get to see the Tappers again in the future.

Amy teased a potential return after a fan asked her in an Instagram Q&A session: ‘Would you go back on Gogglebox? Miss you guys x.’

She replied: ‘For now I don’t think so but I think next year or the year after is the 10th anniversary of Gogglebox so who knows. Maybe we’ll come back for a cheeky series.’

The show will mark a decade on-air in early 2023, after it first came to screens back in March 2013.

In early 2021, a source close to the family previously told The Daily Star: ‘The Tapper family was part of Gogglebox for five years and they loved it.

‘But they don’t have any plans to return. They have moved on.’

The insider went on to add: ‘They have some exciting things in the pipeline that they want to focus on. They have a lot coming up this year.’

Fans of the north Londoners were surprised when eldest son Josh gave up his spot on the sofa after bagging a Government Communications Apprenticeship in 2017.

Amy followed suit a year later to go on Celebs Go Dating, with the family subsequently deciding to leave the show.

Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
